About this unit

How to work through it

  1. Start with Topic 1 (factors & GCF/LCM) even if it feels easy, every fraction topic later depends on it.
  2. Do every exercise on paper before opening solutions; use hints only after a real attempt.
  3. Finish all four topics in order, then retake any quiz where you scored below 80%.
  4. Use the external practice links for extra drill if you miss GCF/LCM problems twice.
  5. Before Unit 2, you should simplify fractions quickly without a calculator.

You should be able to

  • Find GCF and LCM of two whole numbers using lists or prime factorization.
  • Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators.
  • Multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers in context problems.
  • Place fractions on a number line and compare them.
