About this unit

How to work through it

  1. Keep a formula sheet for area of special polygons as you go.
  2. Draw nets and label every face before adding surface areas.
  3. Volume with fractional edges: multiply fractions carefully, Unit 1 skills.
  4. Use scratch paper models for prisms and pyramids when confused.
  5. Complete all topics before your class test on measurement.

You should be able to

  • Find area of polygons using appropriate formulas.
  • Use nets to find surface area of prisms and pyramids.
  • Calculate volume when edge lengths are fractions.
  • Distinguish when a problem asks for area vs. surface area vs. volume.
